Re: 400 restoration project
I was trying to understand how to set the flywheel timing. Then I got to looking at the flywheel in the L252L that I have, and both key slots are marked with an arrow for rotation. The arrow would be covered by the washer when installed, and is about 10mm or 3/8 inch from each slot. The cam also has...

Re: Hus Ski Mutt/rat rod Restoration
Okay, that clears that up, it will still be a bit of a hybrid, as I do not have the time or funding to take it all the way back to whatever the chassis started as.

Re: Hus Ski Mutt/rat rod Restoration
Well, the recent posts by snocat Pete and Barrie have made me even more convinced of the weird beginnings of my machine. Re: Hus Ski Mutt/rat rod Restoration
Today I got the rails installed for the motor mounts, and a little painting done as well. In another week or so, I should get the mtor in and see if it runs. Wish me luck.

Re: Hus Ski Mutt/rat rod Restoration
Well, I have most of the loose parts ready to go, just waiting for the chassis to come back from blasting. Then its on to assembly, locating and welding on the motor mount rails, after locating and cutting the mounting bolt slots. Then get everything back together and see if it starts.

Re: Hus Ski Mutt/rat rod Restoration
Ok, Thank you, Barrie. I picked up a complete brake caliper assembly at the NHSA snowmobile swap meet today. I had to take a complete Bombardier chain case with secondary clutch to get it, but $15 was too good to pass up. I checked it and the bolt spacing is the same, so all I have to do is reverse ...
