Re: Muffler Condition on Engine Performance
This topic reminds me about a story my dad told me about trying to repair some Boa-ski sleds in his shop. They were hirth 190 series powered sleds that had a real hard time starting and running correctly. He eventually found there was a baffle plate that had a tendency to break off internally and fa...

Re: New Deck Top ??
Has anyone ever made a new deck top for a Diablo as it really does not look to complicated? Then use the post and all the other heavy gauge stuff?Or would you just get another? I had two 503 frames, one of them had real bad decking, so I decided to try making a new piece. I cut the old deck off the ...

Re: Seeing a wonderful shade of Red!!!!
Wow! Excellent job Bruce. I'm intrerested in seeing what you are going to use for a clutch on that 191R. You say the bottom motor mount holes are also larger? Did you have to drill out your bottom motor mount plate? I will be/plan to use a 193R in my Diablo.

Re: 500 Brake disk
I've been asked to post some more information regarding this disk brake set-up that was on my 500. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/vmaxx4/P1030796.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/vmaxx4/P1030795.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/vmaxx4/P1030792.jpg http://i252.photobuck...

Re: Hirth 54R (500 & 502) & Hirth 190R (503) Differences
Hi Bruce Much larger transfer ports. That would definately add HP. I have a couple of 56R motors and bunch of 193R motors, basically the 292cc versions of the 54R and the 190R - 300 cc motors. I will look tomorrow at a couple of the cylinders. Also 500 rpm differences between these motors. ...Mark.

Re: chaincase oil
Would a "spray-on" gear lube work in this case? All the internal bearings are shielded and a product such as "Dynagear" sticks to a chain like glue.

Here's another picture. The serial # of this sled was 3086x. Is this a later number than yours?
Have you been able to find new "stand-off's" that attach to the head bolts/studs?

Here is a a picture of a 503 I looked at this summer to get some measurements for my new motor mounts. It has the spark plug wire routed through the hole you're talking about.

Re: More Bogie Wheel Discussion-Washers, Powder Painting & More
Yes, I noticed the washers on my 503 but I had assumed the previous owner had installed them for more lift. As usual, thanks for the info. Where did you bake your powder coating? I didn't see an oven in that new shop

Re: Looking for a 54R3 Can trade a 191 Hirth
I am looking for a 54R3 Hirth 300. I can offer a 191R Hirth 300 in trade. The 191 rolls nicely and has 120# compression. It is complete with carb and good recoil but no exhaust. Or I have a question....Can I take a 191R and rotate it to be a "lay down" motor. Does it use the same mounting bracket a...
