Re: chaincase oil
In adding my two cents worth, I forgot to answer the original question. I absolutely agree with Bruce in using 80/90 gear oil. That will give everything a nice thick coating of oil and will make its way back down to the chain case for next start up.

Re: chaincase oil
Here's my two cents worth - I think oil in the chain case is the better option. I would think a spray on lube would be good if you could reapply it periodically whereas being inside a chain case, once it gets thrown off the chain, and it will, it will not migrate back to the bottom of the chain case...

Re: What should be in the toolbox?
I think a spare ignition key would be a smart thing to have, hidden in the tool box or on the machine itself somewhere. Should the ignition key get lost in deep powder snow in the middle of a ride, it would not be fun to disconnect wires to try and get the machine started to get home. This is someth...

Track Sprockets
Just in from the shop and working on the 444. Just an observation I have made and curious if anyone else has seen or noticed this - I measured the width of the front sprockets from outside edge to outside edge of the sprocket and it measures 18.5 inches. And I noticed that the rear ones, same measur...

Re: 9/5/11 - The Official Start of the Season!
Hi Bruce and everyone else... just checking in. Joan and I dragged home the new addition - a nice 444 that we will restore this winter. Barrie is going to round up some parts for me and this one I have promised is Joan's machine. In the meantime, looks like I will be driving my 500, and 502 this win...

Hi Rock
It sounds like you are getting out of the antique snowmobile world. If this is the case, so sad to hear because we need more people getting into this sport/hobby than getting out of it. Whatever you decide, we wish you well.

Re: new diablo owner
Like Bruce said, welcome to the wonderful world of hus ski and diablo enthusiasts. But beware.... it always starts with just one machine but really, one is never enough! Next thing you know, the family car is in the driveway and the garage is full of hus skis and diablos. My wife Joan will attest to...

Diablo 503 Restoration
Just finished restoring my diablo 503 today. I think it turned out fantastic! I would like to give Bruce, of gogodiablo, a big "thank you" for helping me with this restoration and for supplying me with all the missing bits and pieces. All I have to do now is figure out how to get it out of the rumpu...

Re: 5/27/11 8mm Video Chat
Truly sad to hear this sad news. Ironically, just last weekend I hauled that video out and watched it again. I hadn't watched it since I first got it from you. They are a real treasure for Hus ski and Diablo enthusiasts and such a neat piece of history on these machines. To have them on DVD is a gre...

Re: Hus Ski ED's Place !! (Great Stories)
Hi Ed It was really great meeting you at the Alliston Hus Ski /Diablo event. I really enjoyed all the stories you told me about hus ski development. I particularly enjoyed the story you told me about how the diablo rouge design came about. That the owner of FMC and the car designer who designed the ...
